Gavin vs McDonnell heads trio of Shinobi War 5 additions

11168911_948041391884216_8489457864215447652_nA bout between Beau Gavin and Aaron McDonnell in the Lightweight division is one of three fights announced by North West-based promotion Shinobi MMA Fighting Championships today.

HAMMA fighter Gavin has plied his trade on a vast number shows across the country to earn his current 7-1 record. While September 5 represents his debut under the Shinobi banner, Gavin has already fought at the Olympia, appearing on the amateur card when BAMMA visited Liverpool last August, although it was that fight against Ant O’Connor that produced the only blemish on his ledger to date. Most recently in May, Gavin took home the Eiko Lightweight title by way of submission.

Fighting out of Predators MMA, Shinobi veteran McDonnell brings a 5-3 record into the clash with Gavin. His last appearance on the all-amateur promotion saw him fight eventual Lightweight Champion Gav Hughes, where he dropped his opponent and almost snatched a guillotine choke victory, only for Hughes to rally back and submit McDonnell. McDonnell also holds a 155lbs strap of his own, that of FightStar Championships.

In another addition to the card, Bryn Edwards and Jack Burton, representing HFFS and BKK Fighters respectively, go toe to toe at Heavyweight. Edwards was victorious in his one fight to date and Burton will travel to Liverpool looking to add a fourth win to his thus far perfect 3-0 record.

Finally, another HFFS product will make his debut on September 5 as Callum Pridding squares off against Team Elite’s Liam Gittins (1-0) in the Flyweight division.
