Almighty Fighting Championships have exclusively revealed the headline fight of AFC3 to Addicted OTR as they look to continue building their rapidly growing reputation as one of the UK’s top up-and-coming events. “Better never sleeps” as they say; and the guys at Almighty certainly don’t seem to, as fresh from their successful second show they’ve got the wheels in motion for event number 3, which takes place on October 29th at the o2 Academy in Leeds.
Taking centre stage will be a classic ‘striker vs grappler’ battle as Cage Warriors veteran and current Almighty Fighting Championships pro flyweight champion Paul Marin defends his belt against Mick ‘The Little Bastard’ Gerrard (4-2). Gerrard (as well as having one of the best nicknames in UK MMA) won’t be overawed by Marin’s resume, having himself competed under both the Cage Warriors and BAMMA banners in the past; coming into this fresh from an impressive second round submission victory against Fabio Viti on ICE FC 14 back in May. Gerrard has only tasted defeat once in his last five trips to the cage, suffering a KO defeat to European-level standout Chris Miah in 2015.
‘El Empalador’ Marin last entered the octagon in April on Almighty’s first show, defeating Sam Halliday in impressive fashion. Having won 5 of his last 6 bouts, going back to 2014, the Barcelona based powerhouse will be looking to extend his 12-5 record and solidify his position at the top of the Almighty Fighting Championships flyweight roster.
The rest of the Almighty card is starting to take shape, with two amateur title bouts already signed and sealed. Having won his first title in a tumultuous five round battle with Robbie Brown, Khalid Patel (2-0) is thrown straight back into the bear pit, defending his amateur flyweight crown against The Tank, Warren Mason (8-6). AFC Promoters Ray and Steve will also be crowning a new champion, as they pit Dan Tempest (4-3) and Marcin Bednarz (2-0) against each other for the Almighty Fighting Championships amateur middleweight strap.
