Last year we broke the news of Budo Fighting Championships’ affiliation with Brazilian promotional juggernaut Aspera FC. Although it raised a few eyebrows, it also generated a few whispers saying “so what?”, as many in the community questioned the impact it would have on the UK show. Today we can exclusively reveal the answer to just that, as Budo FC are going international.
Owner Chris Clarke told us;
“It gives me great pleasure in announcing that we will be heading to Brazil in 2017 and putting on our first international event.
As one of the birth places for martial arts, Brazil is always somewhere I’ve wanted to go, be a part of MMA in the country and now, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity of taking the promotion with me. It’s a great feeling to be the first UK promotion to host a show there. We’ll be announcing more information in relation to this in the coming months so please stay tuned for updates”.
“That’s not all. It also gives me great pleasure to announce that Aspera FC, arguably Brazil’s biggest promotion outside of the UFC will be coming to the UK this year. Aspera will be sending over a team of fighters to compete and we look forward to a long standing partnership. Team Budo vs Team Aspera has well and truly begun!
We announced the partnership in 2016 and it saw them advertise the new partnership at one of their events mid-year. Now, we’re taking it to a new level doing a cross over of co-promotions in the UK and in Brazil”.
