The Secret Blogger: Points are for pussies

Written by ‘Steven Johns’ *

In recent times there has been a growing trend in submission grappling for ‘submission only’ tournaments. Due to the ever growing popularity of EBI (Eddie Bravo Invitational), the rule set is being used by more and more events resulting in mixed reactions.

Why anybody would object to ‘sub only’ is beyond baffling. I guess it would be the same people who derive satisfaction from ‘points wins’ and the same people who claim ‘world title’ victories via ‘advantage points’ or technicalities like being the only competitor in the division.

WSOF Global’s Bootsy Harris “We are in awe of the consistent activity ICE FC provides the WSOF Global brand.”

Heading into their eighteenth event on Friday 28th October at the Macron Stadium, Bolton, ICE FC are continuing it’s consistency of both growth & expansion when the news broke that International Combat Elite & WSOF Global had joined forces back in early April 2016, we spoke with WSOF Global’s Affiliate Coordinator Bootsy Harris to give everyone an update of the progression of both ICE FC & WSOF Global as a brand.

“The goal is and always has been to show the unique flavour that every country brings to MMA, and allow the world to enjoy them. Since MMA began, fans in UK had only a concept of the American & Japanese styles of MMA. Now with the advent of the Global brand, an MMA fan in UK can see how a Filipino, Indian, South African, or Argentinian MMA event looks, feels, and sounds like. And the fans from those regions now have a chance to engage in UK MMA courtesy of ICE FC and the Global platform.”
